Remuneration: £22,500 starting salary

To meet the demands of our expanding university network, we are seeking an Account Executive to join our team. As a start-up company, we’re looking for creative, enterprising individuals that are enthusiastic about academic research spanning life sciences, physical sciences and engineering. They must be confident communicators that are comfortable conducting themselves in a professional manner with a range of stakeholders.

 

The role:

After an initial introductory period, employee responsibilities will include:

  • Introduce IN-PART’s service to new university clients, helping them to quickly understand what we do and answering any further queries.
  • Maintain and build close working relationships with current clients (technology transfer and business engagement teams in universities worldwide), to help IN-PART’s service fit around their own workflow.
  • Upload website content through our custom-built online platform.
  • Get to grips with our in-house analytics system, and accurately relay and interpret statistics to university management teams.

 

Skills and knowledge required:

The successful person for this role will:

  • Be a graduate from any degree discipline but STEM subjects and/or post-Graduate level degrees are preferred.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to confidently communicate in a clear and concise manner with colleagues and clients across all levels of seniority.
  • Self-motivated and well organised, with excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Have knowledge and experience of using IT suites, such as Microsoft Office, Google Apps, Adobe Creative Cloud programs etc.
  • Relationship management experience in either a private or public sector organisation.
  • Knowledge and interest in Higher Education, Science and High Tech sectors and, ideally, awareness of technology transfer processes.

 

All of the above is preferable, we will consider high-quality candidates who have some, but not all these skills, and who can demonstrate a keen willingness to learn and excel in a start-up environment.

Role Overview

We are looking for an Account Manager to join our Discover team. Discover is a solution used by industry teams focussed on external partnering in research, seeking commercial opportunities and academic partners to collaborate with to help solve their latest challenges, enhance their research outputs, or fill their early stage pipeline.

The successful individual will have a keen interest in science, excellent communication skills and confidence in their ability to understand and verbally communicate research.

After an induction period and training, you will be responsible for maintaining excellent working relationships with your client accounts, leading productive teleconferences with multiple participants and understanding their specific needs. We should mention that we have lovely clients!

Client communication relies upon understanding scientific requirements, and thereafter creating briefs of their search interests. When required you may be asked to help lead on some research into academia, and be responsible for introducing clients to academics and university teams of interest.

Our team and product are growing quickly and as such, we need to constantly understand our developing client need. This means you will be liaising and feeding back to our product and development team about requirements on a regular basis.

Day to day will include:

Responsibility for driving the success of multiple simultaneous Discover campaigns commissioned by a variety of R&D clients.

  • External and internal discussion of research and client r This will require a high level of diligence and understanding of often complex research topics.  
  • When required, in-depth desk-based research into areas of scientific innovation to identify opportunities for engagement in academia.
  • Proactive organisation and leadership on teleconferences with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Efficient teamwork and a collaborative work ethic, ensuring client projects are on track and always delivered to deadlines.
  • You will be expected to be amenable to new challenges from clients who have high expectations.
  • Creating client material to a high standard, including detailed reports using Adobe InDesign software.
  • Working with the entire team to contribute to the future development of Discover and feature releases.

 

Required Experience

The successful person for this role will:

  • Be a STEM postgraduate with an MSc/ PhD in a Life Science discipline.
  • Always communicate verbally with confidence and professionalism.
  • Possess an ability for excellent scientific writing.
  • Be self-motivated and able to keep accurate records of work.
  • Have the ability to manage time effectively and work to strict deadlines at a high standard.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Have knowledge of IT suites such as Microsoft Office and Google Apps, with exceptional online research skills.
  • Be excited to take ownership of a role, and driven by an enjoyment of understanding research and its potential translation into therapies and commercially relevant technology.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience of client handling and maintaining professional relationships.
  • CRM experience.
  • Adobe InDesign experience, or similar design software.

Role Overview:

Reporting to the co-CEO this role will be initially focussed on developing new business prospects and independently selling our new product to R&D focussed companies, IN-PART: Discover.

The product helps R&D companies launch research calls to identify and connect with universities globally in order to fund new research, establish collaborations, long term partnerships, and ultimately benefit society. You will use your relationship management and negotiation skills to grow our client base by approaching new clients by telephone and email, planning and preparing presentations and communicating our product offering.

You will receive a two month training program to learn how to demo and sell the product to senior R&D executives (Head of R&D, Chief Scientists, Lead Engineers).

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Increase revenues for IN-PART by hitting & exceeding sales objectives each quarter
  • Maintain and develop strong relationships with existing and new customers to win new business
  • Identify, establish contact and develop relationships with new prospects. Listen to their needs and highlight the opportunities IN-PART can offer
  • Drive the sales process from prospect to close, negotiating and closing deals
  • Work with your colleagues in the company to identify opportunities for selling, up-selling and cross-selling to increase company revenue
  • Support the co-CEO in the creation and execution of sales forecasts and pipelines
  • Develop in-depth market, product, and sector knowledge
  • Provide client and prospective client feedback to internal teams to inform their processes and ultimately future product development
  • Represent IN-PART at events, conferences, and exhibitions (currently virtual, but in person internationally when possible)
  • Be an effective team player with strong customer service, communication and presentation skills, which can be adjusted depending on the product and audience
  • Keep accurate records for the creation and execution of sales forecasts and pipelines.

 

Required Experience:

  • Background in new business development and selling to enterprises
  • Evidence of the ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Experience of exceeding targets
  • Educated to degree level (ideally STEM) or demonstrates equivalent relevant experience
  • Ideally 2-4 years experience in a target-driven sales role, ideally telephone based B2B sales (desirable, transferable skills considered)

 

Not required but would be great:

  • Experience of working within the R&D or higher education sector.
  • Knowledge of the R&D and/or Higher Education sector
  • Passion for helping university research impact the world

 

Note: we will consider candidates with no prior experience in sales but have strong communication skills and passion for the IN-PART mission, to help university research impact the world.

Job Description

We are seeking a senior full-stack Typescript/Javascript developer to help us create backend and frontend applications for our growing product range.

Working alongside a team of seven (including a mix of junior, mid-level and senior devs) and under the guidance of our product manager, you’ll take a key role in delivering products to our end users. Demonstrable experience of working in and leading a team is essential for this role.

You will have strong project management skills with an excellent ability to communicate complex problems, estimate timescales, and give regular updates to both technical and non-technical team members. You will be able to accurately assess project requirements, plan technical epics and set and meet deadlines.

Your leadership style will get the best out of junior team members and inspire them to excel in their own role. You will have a strong work ethic, be willing to admit it if you’re wrong and be an all round team player.
